Coastal Redwood (Sequoia sempervirens)

Atop Ashbury Heights sit 3 Coastal Redwoods. Buffeted by winds sweeping up from the sea, their towering potential stunted by their exposure, they stand and withstand in silent, stubborn resilience. Over the years their branches have crossed and now support one another, layers upon layers of interwoven wood. The details of this job were to remove deadwood while leaving the entanglements of live branches intact. The results are greener and cleaner trees, with their unique sculptural qualities visible for all to see.
